IRKUTSK, June 11. /Dunyo IA/. In Irkutsk, Consul General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk Aslam Akbarov held a meeting with the Rector of Irkutsk National Research Technical University (IrNITU) Mikhail Kornyakov, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the negotiations, parties discussed expanding bilateral cooperation between IrNITU and higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan, as well as organizing the educational process for Uzbek students.

Currently, more than 100 students from Uzbekistan are studying at the university in fields such as mining, oil and gas engineering, information technology, and other specialties.

Mikhail Kornyakov noted the interest in increasing the number of students from Uzbekistan. The meeting also highlighted IrNITU's established ties with Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov, Uzbekistan State World Languages University, Urgench branch of Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi, Navoi State University of Mining and Technologies, Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute and Namangan State Pedagogical Institute, with all of which agreements and memoranda on bilateral cooperation have been signed.

The Uzbek side proposed expanding direct contacts and faculty exchanges between IrNITU and the Navoi State Mining and Technological University for further professional development courses hosted by the Irkutsk university.

Russian side supported the Consul General's proposal to increase the number of master's students studying on a scholarship basis, as well as postgraduate students, who will be awarded increased stipends according to their chosen specialties.

Within the framework of the visit, a meeting was also held with Uzbek students, including participants of the professional development program from Kimyo International University in Tashkent.

During the dialogue, the students shared details about their studies, practical training, as well as the housing and living conditions provided for them.

It was noted that compatriots remain under the protection of the state, and the General Consulate stands ready to continue providing the necessary assistance and support in resolving any issues that may arise during their studies.

During the meeting, specific issues raised by the students to the General Consulate were also reviewed and resolved, including completing registration procedures with local internal affairs authorities and ensuring comfortable living conditions in the dormitories.

Following the meeting, the students expressed their intention to return and seek employment in Uzbekistan in their chosen specialties after graduation.
