China leads in the number of foreign-invested enterprises in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT, October 5. /Dunyo IA/. China ranks first among countries in terms of the number of enterprises with foreign participation operating in Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as of September 1, 2026, there were 6,436 enterprises with Chinese capital operating in the country.
In total, Uzbekistan has 21,490 enterprises and organizations with foreign investment. Of these, 4,758 are joint ventures, while 16,732 are enterprises with foreign participation.
Over the past five years, the total number of operating enterprises with foreign investment has increased 1.7-fold. At the same time, the share of foreign enterprises in their overall structure rose from 56.2 percent to 77.9 percent.
China ranks first in terms of the number of such enterprises, with 6,436. It is followed by Russia with 3,589, Türkiye with 2,365, Kazakhstan with 1,345, and the Republic of Korea with 739.
Top ten also include Afghanistan with 725 enterprises, Azerbaijan with 503, Tajikistan with 483, the United Arab Emirates with 464, and India with 446.
Thus, enterprises with Chinese participation account for around 30 percent of the total number of enterprises and organizations with foreign investment operating in Uzbekistan. Their number is nearly 1.8 times higher than that of Russia, which ranks second.
According to experts, the growing number of enterprises with foreign participation reflects the expanding geography of Uzbekistan’s international business cooperation and increasing interest among foreign investors in the country’s economy.
