“The Nation”: Economic cooperation remains one of the key areas of the participation of Uzbekistan in the SCO

ISLAMABAD, August 28. /Dunyo IA/.   Pakistani newspaper “The Nation” has published an article on the role of Uzbekistan in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, highlighting its contribution to the development of economic, transport and regional interaction, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication emphasized that Uzbekistan, as one of the founding members of the SCO, has chaired the organization four times and successfully hosted summits in Tashkent and Samarkand.

According to the newspaper, economic cooperation remains one of the key pillars of Uzbekistan's participation in the SCO. In 2025, the country's foreign trade turnover reached $81.2 billion, with China, Russia and Kazakhstan remaining its largest trading partners.

Particular attention was paid by The Nation to the development of transport links, specifically the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway and its potential connection with the Trans-Afghan Corridor. It also highlights Uzbekistan's support for the creation of a unified SCO transport space.

Newspaper further underscored Tashkent's contribution to security cooperation and emphasized Uzbekistan's position on the necessity of maintaining the SCO's openness, rejecting political confrontation and adhering to the principles of the “Shanghai Spirit”.
