ISTANBUL, October 15. /Dunyo IA/. Heavy rainfall has flooded streets and residential buildings in Istanbul, caused part of a road to collapse and claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy who was electrocuted, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing Turkish broadcaster “TRT Haber.”

Floodwaters swept away cars in several districts, disrupting traffic and leaving vehicles stranded on submerged roads. Part of a road collapsed in the Eyüpsultan district, while several streets were left impassable due to flooding.

In Esenyurt, a woman was swept away by floodwaters while crossing a flooded road, but bystanders managed to rescue her. In Küçükçekmece, rescue teams freed a person trapped inside a flooded apartment, while vehicles were carried away by the water in the Ayazağa neighborhood of Sarıyer.

In a separate incident, a 14-year-old boy died from an electric shock after stepping into a puddle. An investigation into the incident has been launched.

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül warned that rainfall would continue across the province overnight, with particularly heavy precipitation expected in the city's Asian side the following day.

He urged residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary, avoid driving where possible and keep away from areas at risk of flooding and landslides.

In response to the adverse weather conditions, in-person classes at all educational institutions across Istanbul will be suspended for one day.

Authorities have called on residents to monitor official weather warnings and follow safety guidelines as heavy rainfall continues.
