MADRID, October 15. /Dunyo IA/. The Spanish analytical news portal “Orta Lectura” has published an article, highlighting Uzbekistan’s growing role in regional cooperation and multilateral decision-making in Asia, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The publication notes that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s working visit to Azerbaijan reaffirms close bilateral relations with President Ilham Aliyev and strengthens Uzbekistan’s position in multilateral discussions on security, sustainable development and infrastructure across Asia.

The article identifies participation in the 7^th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) as the central event of the visit. Key items on the agenda include the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, the digitalization of customs, financial and logistics processes, and dialogue on the energy transition and climate change.

According to the publication, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the heads of foreign delegations on the sidelines of the summit.

The article emphasizes that under Mirziyoyev’s leadership, Uzbekistan has moved from relative isolation toward more active participation in regional and international organizations, including the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Organization of Turkic States and CICA.

Among recent agreements cited by the publication are arrangements with Germany’s Rhenus to develop freight terminals and with the US-based Franklin Templeton to facilitate state-owned enterprises’ access to capital markets.

The article concludes that the outcomes of the visit could lay the groundwork for deeper integration of Uzbekistan’s transport networks into transcontinental trade systems. The adoption of the Baku Declaration is also expected following the summit proceedings.
