IAEA confirms readiness to assist in developing nuclear medicine in Uzbekistan

VIENNA, March 30. /Dunyo IA/. In a letter received by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Vienna, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed its readiness to assist Uzbekistan in developing a Strategic “Roadmap” and a National Strategy for the development of nuclear medicine, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

IAEA welcomed Uzbekistan's initiative to form a comprehensive approach to the development of nuclear medicine, emphasizing that this effort will contribute to strengthening the national healthcare system, expanding access to oncological care and implementing modern medical technologies.

It was noted that support will be provided within the framework of ongoing IAEA technical cooperation programs, as well as the Joint Action Plan for 2025-2027. The agency specifically emphasized its readiness to provide expert and advisory assistance, ensuring that the work aligns with international safety standards and best practices.

IAEA also expressed interest in continuing close cooperation with Uzbekistan on issues related to the development of nuclear medicine, radiotherapy, radiology and radiopharmacy.
