LONDON, September 18. /Dunyo IA/.  A delegation from the Atomic Energy Agency of Uzbekistan, led by Director Azim Akhmedkhadzhaev, participated in the 51st World Nuclear Symposium of the World Nuclear Association (WNA) in London, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the session titled “New Paths to Nuclear Power”, Uzbek side presented the country's approach to developing nuclear energy and its experience in implementing the integrated nuclear power plant (NPP) project to the international nuclear community.

Project involves a combination of high-capacity VVER-1000 power units and RITM-200N small modular reactors (SMRs). It is being implemented as part of strategic reforms aimed at strengthening Uzbekistan's energy security.

Session participants positively evaluated the presented approach, specifically noting the consistent development of industry institutions, long-term planning, the establishment of regulatory and infrastructure frameworks and the engagement of international expertise.

During the visit, bilateral meetings were also held with Sama Bilbao y León, Director General of the WNA and the World Nuclear University, the management of the French company “Orano” and the Canadian firm “AtkinsRéalis”, as well as Lassina Zerbo, Chairman of the Rwanda Atomic Energy Board and advisor to the President of Rwanda.
