KARACHI, April 30. /Dunyo IA/.   A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by the Ambassador to Pakistan Alisher Tukhtaev and the Governor of Navoi Region Normat Tursunov, visited the city of Karachi in Sindh province, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

As part of the visit program, the delegation members met with the Chief Minister of Sindh Province, Syed Murad Ali Shah. During the talks, the parties discussed ways to elevate trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the Navoi Region and Sindh Province to a new level.

Special attention was paid to developing industrial cooperation, establishing joint ventures, and making effective use of existing production capacities.

The sides considered opportunities for implementing joint investment projects in such sectors as textiles, wool and leather processing, the food industry, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and construction materials manufacturing. Additionally, concrete proposals were put forward to establish mutually beneficial cooperation in potato farming, as well as the cultivation and processing of agricultural products.

The parties also discussed attracting Pakistani investors to the Navoi Region by actively promoting the potential of the “Navoi” Free Economic Zone and “Navoi” International Airport, highlighting their key role in forming a regional logistics and industrial hub.

During the meeting, issues of expanding cooperation in the transport and logistics sector were considered separately. Specifically, an initiative was put forward to launch direct flights between the cities of Navoi and Karachi. It was noted that this would contribute to increasing mutual trade volumes, developing tourism ties and creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurs.

Concrete agreements were also reached in the agricultural sector. Specifically, proposals were supported for the supply of meat, rice, potatoes, and livestock from Sindh Province to the Navoi Region, as well as the organization of legume exports from the Navoi Region to Pakistan. It was emphasized that these initiatives will contribute to food security and the diversification of markets in both regions.

Cultural and humanitarian cooperation was also a key focus of the negotiations. The parties agreed to develop and approve a “Sister Regions” program between the Navoi Region and Sindh Province, implement joint projects in culture and tourism, establish youth exchanges and develop and launch joint educational programs between higher education institutions.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to establish a joint working group to ensure the practical implementation of the planned arrangements.
