NEW DELHI, July 20. /Dunyo IA/. At least 25 people have died and many remain missing after severe monsoon rains triggered floods and landslides across northern and north-eastern India, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing Reuters.

Authorities have warned that heavy rainfall is expected to continue in the coming days, raising concerns about further flooding and landslides across the region.

In Indian-administered Kashmir, at least 15 people were killed in separate rain-related incidents in the districts of Poonch, Rajouri, and Doda. Several others are still reported missing.

In the north-eastern state of Nagaland, landslides caused by persistent rainfall claimed nine lives. Rescue teams have recovered the bodies of four victims, while search operations continue.

Meanwhile, in the neighbouring state of Assam, one person died in flooding, and more than 57,000 residents across seven districts have been affected by the heavy rains.

In neighbouring Nepal, 27 people have died since the monsoon season began in mid-June due to floods, landslides, heavy rainfall, and lightning strikes. One person remains missing, and 69 others have been injured. Several highways, including the main route linking Kathmandu with the country’s southern regions, have been blocked by landslides.
