“The Pakistan Today”: Visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Belarus could mark a new stage in expanding industrial cooperation

ISLAMABAD, July 9. /Dunyo IA/. “The Pakistan Today” newspaper has said that the upcoming visit of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Belarus is expected to open a new chapter in bilateral cooperation, Dunyo News Agency's correspondent reports.

According to the publication, Uzbekistan–Belarus relations have increasingly acquired a strong economic dimension in recent years, with industrial cooperation, interregional partnerships, the establishment of joint manufacturing facilities, and the expansion of bilateral trade emerging as key priorities on the bilateral agenda.

The newspaper notes that despite ongoing geopolitical tensions and disruptions to global supply chains, trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and Belarus have demonstrated steady growth. Bilateral trade reached USD 965 million during the 2017–2025 period. Uzbekistan's exports to Belarus increased nearly sevenfold, while imports from Belarus grew fivefold. In 2025 alone, bilateral trade expanded by 25 percent.

Belarus is now among Uzbekistan's top 20 trading partners worldwide and ranks as its third-largest trading partner within the CIS, following Russia and Kazakhstan. Investment cooperation has also strengthened significantly. Since 2017, the number of enterprises with Belarusian capital operating in Uzbekistan has increased almost twelvefold, from 22 to 258, including 63 joint ventures and 195 wholly Belarusian-owned enterprises. Meanwhile, more than 110 companies with Uzbek investment are currently operating in Belarus.

“The visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Belarus could become an important milestone in further expanding industrial cooperation and unlocking the full potential of bilateral relations”, - “The Pakistan Today” concludes.
