Parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan takes part in the 60th plenary session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States

• 56TASHKENT, May 23. /Dunyo IA/. The 60th plenary session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations took place in St. Petersburg, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the Senate information service, one of the main topics of the meeting was the discussion of measures implemented within the framework of 2026 – the Year of Healthcare in the CIS area.
In her speech, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva, noted that over the years, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly has become an important platform for developing interparliamentary cooperation, harmonizing national legislation and strengthening parliamentary diplomacy. Along with this, it was emphasized that the main focus within the framework of cooperation is placed on ensuring the interests and well-being of the population.
The development of the healthcare system in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is one of the priority areas of state policy. In this regard, it was noted that within the framework of the “Uzbekistan – 2030” Strategy, a gradual modernization of the healthcare sector is being carried out, digital technologies and telemedicine are being implemented and the primary healthcare system is being strengthened.
It was noted that Uzbekistan's chairmanship of the CIS Council for Cooperation in Healthcare this year imposes additional responsibility for promoting practical initiatives and strengthening interparliamentary cooperation.
The parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan put forward proposals for developing the legal framework in the field of cross-border healthcare, including the development of model laws; improving mechanisms for the prevention of non-communicable diseases, healthy nutrition and the effective use of digital technologies; forming unified approaches in the pharmaceutical sector, drug registration and strengthening quality control; and expanding cooperation in the field of medical personnel training and professional exchange.
The parliamentarians also emphasized the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in creating the necessary legal frameworks for the development of the healthcare system and ensuring the effective enforcement of enacted laws.
The delegation of Uzbekistan initiated a proposal for a more effective utilization of the potential of the Expert Advisory Board on Public Health under the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and expressed readiness for active engagement in these areas.
At the conclusion of the session, it was emphasized that coordinated legislative initiatives and interparliamentary cooperation contribute to the advancement of the healthcare system and the strengthening of integration processes across the CIS region.
