Presidents of Uzbekistan and Türkiye outline priorities for deepening comprehensive strategic partnership

ТASHKENT, January 30. /Dunyo IA/.  The fourth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council was held under the co-chairmanship of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the Head of our State, the parties emphasized the symbolic significance of the current meeting, which is taking place on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan and the 30th anniversary of the Treaty on Eternal Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries.

The dynamic development of political dialogue and the closeness of positions on international issues were noted with satisfaction.

An agreement was reached to continue mutual support within the framework of the United Nations, Organization of Turkic States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Economic Cooperation Organization and other structures.

Inter-parliamentary ties have intensified, including through friendship groups.

Mutual trade volumes as well as the number of joint ventures and projects with leading Turkish companies, continue to grow steadily.

A goal was set to increase the trade turnover to $5 billion in the coming years, including through expanding the list of goods covered by the Preferential Trade Agreement.

As part of the preparations for the visit, new priority areas for industrial cooperation were identified, to be implemented under a separate program.

The significant potential for interregional cooperation was also noted. By the end of the year, delegations from all regions of Uzbekistan are expected to visit Türkiye to develop a portfolio of projects with partner regions.

The demand for implementing advanced Turkish experience in the fields of agriculture, horticulture, healthcare and medical tourism was emphasized.

Particular attention was paid to developing cooperation in tourism, holding theater festivals and culture weeks, the joint production of historical films and the restoration of cultural heritage sites.

To deepen cooperation in education, it was agreed to hold the fourth Rectors' Forum in the city of Bukhara this spring.

Reports from the co-chairs of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on promising areas of multifaceted partnership were also heard.

Following the meeting, the governments were instructed to approve a roadmap for implementing the decisions reached.

In conclusion, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to visit Uzbekistan.
