BELGRADE, September 7. /Dunyo IA/.  An article titled “President of Uzbekistan Arrives in Serbia: Direct Air Serbia Flights and New Projects on the Agenda” has been published by the Serbian information and analytical portal “Politika”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication notes that the upcoming official visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Serbia presents an important opportunity to translate the political dialogue achieved and the institutional framework established between Tashkent and Belgrade into concrete economic, investment, transport, educational and humanitarian projects.

Publication highlights opportunities to expand bilateral trade and develop joint production aimed at third-country markets. In particular, it points to the combination of Uzbekistan’s growing industrial base in textiles, chemicals, food processing and machine building with Serbia’s manufacturing expertise, access to the European Union market and extensive network of free trade agreements.

As the next stage of cooperation, the article proposes moving from relatively modest bilateral trade volumes towards long-term industrial and investment partnerships, including expanding the range of Uzbek exports, increasing the share of value-added products and exploring more favourable trade mechanisms.

Publication also examines prospects for cooperation in the field of labour mobility. It highlights Uzbekistan’s experience in organized external labour migration and the possibility of establishing a similar mechanism with Serbia, which could provide transparent channels for organized employment, strengthen the protection of labour rights and facilitate regulated labour mobility between the two countries.

Considerable attention is devoted to educational and scientific cooperation. In connection with the intergovernmental agreement concluded in October 2025, the article notes the potential for broader participation of Uzbek students in the “World in Serbia” programme, as well as for expanding cooperation between 215 Uzbek universities and Serbian higher education institutions in engineering, information technology and applied sciences.
