Embassy of Uzbekistan in London holds a meeting with compatriot students in the United Kingdom

LONDON, October 5. /Dunyo IA/.  Embassy of Uzbekistan in London hosted a meeting with the new leadership of the Uzbekistan’s Students Union in the UK (UzSU), as well as scholars of the “El-yurt umidi” Foundation studying at leading universities in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and other cities of the United Kingdom, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, new leadership of the union shared the main directions of its activities, as well as plans and initiatives for the 2026–2027 academic year.

It was noted that the number of UzSU members is currently approaching 600 students. This indicator demonstrates the growing interest of Uzbek student youth in uniting, mutual support and implementing joint educational, cultural and social initiatives.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the issues of further developing the union's activities, expanding its interaction with students, educational institutions and public organizations of the United Kingdom. The Embassy confirmed its readiness to continue providing comprehensive support to the work of the Union, aimed at uniting Uzbek student youth, developing their educational and professional potential, strengthening mutual ties and creating opportunities for the implementation of new initiatives.

Separately, the need to form a stable immunity among the younger generation against negative ideologies and destructive informational influences was discussed. In this context, creating a positive and constructive environment for students based on knowledge, education, mutual respect, tolerance, and responsibility is of paramount importance. Significance of further uniting Uzbek youth around common values, a sense of belonging to the Motherland, respect for national history and culture, as well as the aspiration to contribute to the development of New Uzbekistan was emphasized.

A special role in this direction is played by maintaining a constant dialogue with the youth. The Embassy views Uzbek students in the United Kingdom not only as representatives of the younger generation studying abroad, but also as an important human capital possessing knowledge, international experience and professional competencies in demand for the development of Uzbekistan.

In this regard, parties agreed to continue regular dialogue and joint work on the implementation of initiatives aimed at supporting students, developing their professional skills and strengthening ties between Uzbek youth in the United Kingdom and Uzbekistan.

Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United Kingdom will continue to pay special attention to working with youth, supporting student initiatives, and creating conditions so that every young citizen of Uzbekistan abroad feels a constant connection with the homeland and has the opportunity to realize their potential for the benefit of the country.

UzSU was founded on March 2nd, 2024, under the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London. From the first days of its activity, the Union has aimed to unite Uzbek students, protect and promote their interests, create opportunities for academic, professional and cultural exchange, as well as strengthen ties with the Homeland. Former leadership of the Union successfully completed their studies at leading British universities and returned to Uzbekistan to contribute to the development of the republic.
