Uzbekistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva meets Director-General of the International Organization for Migration

GENEVA, February 23. /Dunyo IA/. Uzbekistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Eldiyor Toshmatov, met with the Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Amy Pope, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the discussions, both parties highlighted the dynamic development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in key priority areas. This includes support for migration and the protection of migrants’ rights, the implementation of joint educational programs and training, as well as the provision of technical and expert assistance in developing migration policies.
The Director General of the IOM Emy Poup praised Uzbekistan’s active and constructive role in regional and global migration processes. She noted the strengthening of Uzbekistan’s position as a reliable partner of the organization in Central Asia and emphasized that the country is steadily establishing itself as a bridge between East and West.
Emy Poup highlighted the positive progress of the comprehensive migration reforms being implemented under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, including the modernization of the legal and regulatory framework, the establishment of social protection mechanisms for migrants, and the strengthening of international cooperation on safe, orderly and regular migration.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic partnership and expressed confidence in further expanding cooperation to ensure the protection of migrants and their rights in Uzbekistan and across the Central Asian region.
