BUDAPEST, February 24. /Dunyo IA/.  A meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan with Dávid Somfai Kara, a senior research fellow at the Institute of Ethnology of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, during which promising areas of scientific and humanitarian cooperation were discussed, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The Hungarian side expressed its readiness to organize a scientific-practical conference on the theme “The Development of Science in the Era of Amir Timur and the Timurids”, with the participation of experts from both Hungary and Uzbekistan.

It was also noted that work is currently underway on a documentary film dedicated to the Hungarian Orientalist Arminius Vambéry and his Uzbek contemporary Mulla Sodik. The film crew plans an expedition to the cities of Bukhara, Khiva and Kungrad.

Special attention during the meeting was given to the Hungarian scholar’s research on Uzbek oral epic heritage. Audio recordings of folk dastans collected by him are planned for publication in 2026 with the support of the international organization TÜRKSOY.

Both sides confirmed their mutual interest in further expanding Uzbek-Hungarian scientific and cultural cooperation, including joint publishing, research and educational projects.
