ТASHKENT, January 26. /Dunyo IA/.  President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the leaders of the Olympic Council of Asia and participants of the organization's General Assembly, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the Head of our State, at the beginning of the meeting, the newly elected president of the Olympic Council of Asia Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the Head of our state.

The Leader of our country expressed gratitude for the decision to hold the assembly in Tashkent, noting the high level of trust in Uzbekistan as a reliable partner in the international sports movement.

It was noted that the development of sports has been identified as a priority area within the “Uzbekistan – 2030” Strategy.

The Uzbek side's readiness to further strengthen cooperation with international sports organizations and implement joint programs and initiatives aimed at achieving practical results was emphasized.

At the conclusion of the event, the President of our country presented the director general of the Olympic Council of Asia and president of World Aquatics, Husain Al-Musallam, with a high state award – the “Dustlik” Order of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in recognition of his significant contribution to the development of sport and the strengthening of international sports cooperation.
