Saidmukarram Abdulkodirzoda: World today needs brotherhood and mutual understanding

TASHKENT, July 7. /Dunyo IA/.  Chairman of the Council of Ulema of Islamic Center of Tajikistan Saidmukarram Abdulkodirzoda, gave an interview to Dunyo IA correspondent, within the framework of the 1st International Forum of Islamic Civilization “The Path of Peace, Tolerance and Enlightenment”, which has commenced at the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan:

-  This conference is taking place at a time when humanity, and particularly the Muslim world, needs the strengthening of brotherhood, friendship, mutual understanding, and unity more than ever. Such meetings, which bring together muftis, prominent Islamic scholars, theologians, and thinkers from various countries, are of immense importance not only for the Muslim Ummah but also for the entire global community.

It is Islamic scholars who hold high authority among believers. Their joint efforts, exchange of views, and unity are capable of strengthening the atmosphere of trust, mutual respect, and cooperation between peoples, states, and different cultures. Thanks to such initiatives, solid foundations for peace, harmony and mutual understanding are being formed.

Activities of the President of Uzbekistan are of great importance not only for his country but also for the entire region. Today, Central Asia particularly needs stability, security, peace, prosperity and an atmosphere of mutual respect. Therefore, his initiatives deserve high praise and recognition.

At the same time, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, has also repeatedly stated from international podiums that Islam has nothing to do with extremism, terrorism and violence. Terrorists and extremists do not represent any religion or nation and they cannot hide behind faith to justify their crimes.

I am convinced that such a position is a crucial contribution to strengthening peace and security. All heads of state should demonstrate the same responsibility and support initiatives aimed at developing interfaith dialogue, mutual respect, and the peaceful coexistence of peoples.
