Ukraine Media: Uzbek Cuisine recognized among the Nation’s Primary Gastronomic Symbols

KYIV, July 2. /Dunyo IA/.  Ukrainian news agency “Ukrainian National News” (UNN) considers Uzbek cuisine to be one of the most distinctive in Central Asia, seamlessly integrating centuries-old traditions, regional characteristics, and a rich culinary heritage, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to UNN, Uzbek cuisine encompasses around a thousand unique recipes, including more than one hundred varieties of plov. A special place in the national culinary tradition is occupied by plov, shurpa, lagman, manti, somsa and the traditional flatbread non, which is baked in a tandoor oven and revered as a symbol of hospitality. Furthermore, tea culture, traditional fermented dairy products and the vast abundance of fruits for which Uzbekistan is renowned play a vital role.

Publication states that culinary traditions are passed down from generation to generation and many dishes feature their own unique regional variations. Owing to this, Uzbek cuisine remains one of the nation's premier hallmarks and a vital component of its cultural heritage.
