Cooperation of Uzbekistan with Greater Manchester Business Community to develop across priority areas

MANCHESTER, August 5. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ravshan Usmanov met with Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Emma Holt, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the negotiations, Emma Holt noted that Manchester continues to strengthen its position as an important economic hub of the United Kingdom, playing a significant role as one of the main nodes of trade and investment interaction, as well as the country's transport and logistics infrastructure. According to her, these processes are acquiring an even more dynamic character due to the former Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, assuming the post of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, as well as the opening of an office of the Prime Minister's apparatus in Manchester.

During the meeting, construction and development, engineering and industrial manufacturing, information technology, as well as financial and professional services were highlighted as the most competitive and promising sectors of the region.

It was noted that the large-scale economic reforms carried out in Uzbekistan largely align with Manchester's development priorities, which creates favourable conditions for developing mutually beneficial cooperation and implementing joint projects in areas of mutual interest.

Following the meeting, the parties identified priority tasks for expanding practical interaction with the Manchester business community, developing bilateral business ties and promoting promising joint projects.

Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is the largest chamber in the United Kingdom, uniting approximately 35,000 enterprises. The Chamber's member companies provide employment for more than 700,000 people, which accounts for nearly one-third of the region's total workforce. With a history spanning over 230 years, the Chamber provides comprehensive support to entrepreneurship, facilitating trade development, the entry of companies into international markets, the establishment of business contacts, the promotion of business interests at the state policy level, and workforce skills development. Annually, the organization hosts over 150 events with the participation of more than 10,000 business representatives and plays an important role in establishing interaction between companies, government authorities, investors and international partners.
