TASHKENT, September 21. /Dunyo IA/. Representatives of Uzbekistan and Germany discussed cooperation in improving the management of state-owned real estate during an online meeting, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Talks were attended by representatives of the Agency for Management of State Assets of Uzbekistan, Federal Agency for Real Estate Tasks (BImA), Federal Ministry of Finance of Germany, German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and “Indecon Consulting”.

With the support of German experts, draft laws in the areas of state property management and privatization had previously been prepared, as well as Uzbekistan’s first Corporate Governance Code.

According to him, the new stage of cooperation will cover the management of state-owned real estate, including the valuation of properties, their leasing and sale, as well as bringing vacant buildings into economic circulation.

It was noted that, given that state-owned real estate in Uzbekistan is provided to entrepreneurs through online auctions, requirements for users of such properties are being strengthened to ensure their intended use and prevent them from remaining idle.

During the meeting, Federal Ministry of Finance highly appreciated the developing cooperation with Uzbekistan, noting that the country has been receiving advisory support since 2009.

In turn, representatives of BImA presented Germany’s experience in managing federal properties and discussed with the Uzbek side the establishment of a digital register of state-owned real estate and issues related to the technical maintenance of buildings.

It was stated that Germany is also ready to support the development of a strategy for reforming and privatizing state-owned enterprises for 2026–2030, as well as improving corporate governance in companies with state participation.

Cooperation in the field of real estate is planned to be developed in three stages. First, online seminars will be held for Uzbek specialists with the participation of the German side, followed by a visit by BImA experts to Uzbekistan. Subsequently, a delegation from Uzbekistan will study real estate management practices in Germany.

In conclusion, Uzbek side emphasized the importance of studying not only Germany’s successful solutions, but also the challenges the country faced in establishing its real estate management system, in order to take national conditions into account when further improving the management of state assets.
