ISLAMABAD, September 21. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev held a meeting with Munsoo Kurrimbaccus, Ambassador of Mauritius to Pakistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

At the commencement of the meeting, the Uzbek side presented comprehensive information on the country's historical and cultural heritage, socio-economic reforms, economic growth rates, as well as the conditions and opportunities established for foreign investors and entrepreneurs.

Mauritian diplomat emphasized that intensifying cooperation with Uzbekistan remains a key priority for the leadership of his country. “Establishing direct contacts with the Uzbek side is of paramount importance to us”, stated Moonsoor Kurrimbaccus.

Parties paid specific attention to the development of halal tourism. Uzbekistan is envisioned as a highly promising destination for tourists from Mauritius, owing to the country's rich historical and Islamic heritage.

Parties also discussed the possibility of organizing exports of halal meat and sausage products from Uzbekistan to the Mauritian market. In this context, Mauritius is viewed not only as a potential market for Uzbek products but also as a strategic platform for manufacturers from Uzbekistan to access the markets of other African nations.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to organize reciprocal visits of business delegations, virtual meetings between the tourism authorities of the two countries, as well as joint tourism presentations and roadshow events.

It is worth noting that direct flights between Port Louis and Tashkent are scheduled to launch in December this year. The new route is expected to facilitate the development of tourism, business and humanitarian ties, as well as to increase mutual trade.

Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Mauritius, an island nation in the Indian Ocean, were established on August 4^th, 1999.
