Tashkent and Dushanbe agree to increase bilateral trade to $2 billion

DUSHANBE, February 19. /Dunyo IA/. The 13th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Dushanbe with the participation of Abdulla Aripov, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and Kokhir Rasulzoda, Prime Minister of Tajikistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing the National Information Agency of Tajikistan “Khovar”.
The sides discussed expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, industry, agriculture, transport, customs, education and culture.
It was emphasized that relations in all spheres have seen significant development, and the people of the two countries live in an atmosphere of friendship and brotherhood. It was also noted that strengthening industrial cooperation remains a priority for joint work.
Particular attention was paid to the growth of mutual trade. According to the agency, in 2025, the trade turnover between the countries reached USD 718.3 million, which is 22.5% more than in 2024. During the meeting, the parties agreed to continue active cooperation and increase the trade volume to $2 billion.
Following the meeting, a Protocol on the joint activities of the Intergovernmental Commission for cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan was signed.
