MUMBAI, February 11. /Dunyo IA/. Sardor Rustambaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Eugene Gupta, Director of the Indian pharmaceutical company Concept Pharmaceuticalls, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the discussion, the parties explored prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector, one of the key and most rapidly developing areas of partnership between Uzbekistan and India.
Ambassador Rustambaev provided the Indian side with detailed information on the results of the extensive reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, highlighting the special attention given by the country’s leadership to the development of the pharmaceutical industry.
It was noted that, under the localization program, Uzbekistan aims to increase the share of domestically produced medicines to 70% by 2030. To achieve these goals, the country has established eight specialized pharmaceutical free economic zones (FEZs), including “Tashkent Pharm Park”, “Boysun-Pharm”, “Zomin-Pharm” and “Parkent-Pharm”, where foreign investors are provided with comprehensive support, including tax and customs incentives and simplified registration procedures.
In addition, the discussion highlighted favourable opportunities not only to meet domestic demand but also to export pharmaceutical products manufactured in Uzbekistan to international markets.
Eugene Gupta provided an overview of the company’s operations, noting that its four production facilities in India manufacture around 800 types of medicines for the treatment of cardiovascular and oncological diseases, diabetes, and other conditions, exporting products to 45 countries worldwide.
The Uzbek side proposed that the Indian company explore the possibility of implementing a number of high-tech projects in Uzbekistan’s FEZs, including specific initiatives such as the production of pharmaceutical substances, oncology drugs, infusion solutions, vitamins, vaccines, and blood fractions, as well as the creation of a cluster for cultivating and processing medicinal plants.
Following constructive talks, the parties agreed to organize a visit by a delegation from Concept Pharmaceuticalls to Uzbekistan to further assess cooperation potential and specify investment projects.
