Uzbekistan and Malaysia hold first meeting of upper house parliamentary friendship group

• 60KUALA LUMPUR, January 28. /Dunyo IA/. The first online meeting of the inter-parliamentary friendship group between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the Senate of the Parliament of Malaysia has taken place, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Senators highlighted that in recent years inter-parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia has been developing steadily, gaining new practical substance and momentum.
It was emphasized that mutual parliamentary exchanges, the visit to Uzbekistan by Nur Jazlan Mohamad, Deputy President of the Senate of Malaysia as well as meetings held with the leadership of the Oliy Majlis, have opened a new chapter in bilateral cooperation in this area.
Participants also discussed ways to further strengthen the multifaceted partnership between the two countries, including the development and deepening of inter-parliamentary ties.
In particular, views were exchanged on enhancing the role of parliaments in ensuring the timely and effective implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, aimed at elevating Uzbek - Malaysian relations to the level of strategic partnership.
It was also noted that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia is consistently expanding across political, trade and economic, investment, educational, tourism and cultural and humanitarian spheres.
