Uzbekistan and Singapore expand Interparliamentary Cooperation

SINGAPORE, October 9. /Dunyo IA/.   A videoconference of the parliamentary friendship groups of Uzbekistan and Singapore was held, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Participants reviewed the current state of relations and prospects for interaction in the trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Parties noted that mutual high-level visits and an active political dialogue contribute to the strengthening of relations, including those between the parliaments of the two countries.

Development of interparliamentary cooperation at the interregional level, including the expansion of dialogue between the parliaments of Central Asian countries and the states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), was discussed separately.

In the trade-economic sphere, the parties considered opportunities for expanding mutual trade. Singaporean side expressed interest in exploring cooperation in the field of halal products.

Preparation of joint cultural events for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Singapore in 2027, the development of youth ties, and direct contacts between students of higher educational institutions of the two countries were also discussed.

Following the meeting, parties agreed to continue the interparliamentary dialogue and expand practical cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
