TASHKENT, June 3 /Dunyo IA/. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov today met with Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative region John Lee Ka-chiu, who arrived in Tashkent on an official visit, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

“Pleased to meet with H.E. John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, today in Tashkent, –  the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan wrote in his telegram-channel. – Underscored the strengthening of Uzbekistan – Noted that the visit of the Hong Kong Chief Executive to Uzbekistan would contribute to further strengthening the relations of comprehensive, all-weather strategic partnership in a new era between Uzbekistan and China, while also bringing new momentum to the development of ties between Uzbekistan and Hong Kong.

Discussed promising areas of cooperation in investment, finance, digitalization, artificial intelligence, transport, and logistics.

Emphasized that Hong Kong’s experience and potential as a leading international financial and business center can play an important role in modernizing Uzbekistan’s economy and implementing advanced projects.

Also exchanged views on enhancing interregional partnership, expanding direct contacts between business communities, and promoting joint initiatives.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged verbal notes expressing their intention to conclude an intergovernmental agreement on the establishment of a mutual visa-free regime. This step will create additional opportunities for our citizens and contribute to greater people-to-people exchanges and cooperation”.
