Uzbekistan discusses joining UNESCO’s global digital learning platform

PARIS, April 24. /Dunyo IA/. With the support of the Permanent Delegation of Uzbekistan to UNESCO, an online meeting was organized between representatives of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan and the team behind UNESCO’s international initiative “Gateways to Public Digital Learning”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The meeting was attended on behalf of UNESCO by Program Leads Mark West and Alina Kirillina. Participants discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of education digitalization, as well as prospects for Uzbekistan’s potential accession to the platform.
UNESCO representatives presented up-to-date information on the content and practical mechanisms of the initiative. It was noted that the platform is designed to ensure a strong public education presence in digital and online environments, as well as to facilitate access to free, high-quality digital educational content.
During the meeting, UNESCO representatives highly commended the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan and the progress achieved in the development of preschool and school education. It was emphasized that the country’s ongoing transformations, including the promotion of digital solutions and the expansion of access to modern educational resources, are noteworthy from the perspective of international experience exchange and, in certain areas, may serve as a practical model for other countries.
Following the discussions, the parties agreed to consider establishing cooperation within the framework of the UNESCO initiative to further advance collaboration in the digitalization of education.
The “Gateways to Public Digital Learning” initiative is a global program jointly implemented by UNESCO and UNICEF, aimed at supporting countries in developing and enhancing accessible public digital learning platforms. It seeks to strengthen public education systems in digital and online environments. To date, 35 countries are formal members of the Gateways Initiative.
