ТАSHKENT, September 23. /Dunyo IA/.  Today, during his visit to Andijan region, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected projects being implemented in the leather and footwear small industrial zone in Altynkul district, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the Head of our State, in Uzbekistan, particular attention is paid to the deep processing of raw leather, the production of export-oriented finished products and supplying the domestic market with high-quality, affordable footwear.

An important legal basis for these efforts is the Presidential resolution “On measures to further stimulate the development and increase the export potential of the leather, footwear and fur industries.”

The small industrial zone in Altynkul district is a unified industrial complex bringing together entrepreneurs, artisans and clusters from across the Fergana Valley specializing in leather goods and footwear production. A full production cycle is being established here, from raw material processing to the manufacture and sale of finished products.

Complex covers a total area of 10.1 hectares, with projects worth a combined $28 million being implemented. Modern production buildings, a dual education center and retail facilities have been constructed on 5.5 hectares.

A total of 17 projects with a combined production value of 150 billion soums are being implemented in the industrial zone. Of these, 10 specialize in footwear and sole production, two in artificial leather and another two in shoe adhesives. The remaining projects involve the production of rubber footwear, uppers for specialized footwear and leather.

To date, the complex has created 2,500 new jobs.

Products manufactured here are exported to Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. Specialists who have undergone advanced training in Türkiye, China and Italy have been engaged in production. Their experience contributes to improving product quality and competitiveness.

To support the development of the industry, entrepreneurs have been provided with a range of incentives and opportunities. In particular, production buildings and facilities constructed at their request are sold to them through instalment payment plans of up to seven years.

Head of State examined product samples and paid particular attention to the economic efficiency and export potential of the projects.

During his conversation with entrepreneurs, President made recommendations on improving product quality, introducing modern designs and expanding export markets. He also instructed responsible officials to integrate traditional local shoemaking practices with modern industrial methods and further improve working conditions in the industry.
