Islamabad talks focus on applying Bangladesh and Pakistan’s Textile Expertise in Uzbekistan

ISLAMABAD, October 8. /Dunyo IA/.  Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan Alisher Tukhtaev, held an online meeting with Mehdi Mahbub, Director General of the Bangladeshi company “SB Sourcing”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Parties discussed expanding the participation of Uzbek manufacturers in the global supply chains of international brands, increasing the export of ready-made products with high added value, and attracting the advanced experience of Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Mehdi Mahbub noted that he has repeatedly visited Uzbekistan and is familiar with the operations of local textile enterprises. According to him, thanks to its raw material base, modern production capacities, geographical proximity to European markets and state support, the country possesses significant potential for a substantial increase in the export of ready-made textile products.

Particular attention was paid to human resource development through the involvement of foreign specialists, who could transfer practical knowledge and manufacturing experience to local employees.

The sides also considered the possibility of attracting large textile and garment companies from Bangladesh to investment projects in Uzbekistan. In particular, they highlighted the need to accelerate the establishment of a “Center of Excellence” in the textile and clothing industry at Samarkand State University.

Within the framework of this center, it is planned to train local specialists in production management, technology, quality control, design, marketing and export, with the involvement of experienced specialists from Bangladesh and other nations.

Furthermore, the interlocutors discussed the prospects of organizing convenient air connectivity between Bangladesh and Uzbekistan, as well as conducting business missions of Bangladeshi business circles to Uzbekistan.

Following the online meeting, the parties agreed to hold additional negotiations involving specialists from relevant ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan to comprehensively review the proposed initiatives.
