Uzbekistan’s Multilateral Cooperation Prospects within the CIS Discussed in Minsk

MINSK, August 19. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belarus and Permanent Representative to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Nuriddin Mamajonov, met with First Deputy Secretary-General of the CIS Igor Petrishenko, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The main focus of the meeting was preparations for Uzbekistan’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth in 2027. The sides discussed ensuring continuity in integration initiatives and the effective implementation of previously adopted key decisions.

The meeting also addressed Uzbekistan’s priorities for participation in multilateral cooperation activities within the CIS.

The calendar of the organization’s events for the second half of 2026 was also discussed. In particular, the sides considered the high-level organization of upcoming meetings of the Council of Heads of State, the Council of Heads of Government and the Council of Foreign Ministers, as well as the inclusion of relevant issues on their agendas.

Special attention was given to a program of measures aimed at broadly celebrating the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence and the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the CIS.

The talks concluded with an emphasis on the need to adapt CIS institutions to modern challenges and further strengthen coordination with national agencies.
