TASHKENT, August 7. /Dunyo IA/. Representatives of the customs authorities of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine took part in the 11^th Annual High-Level Interregional Meeting, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with the National Information Agency of Tajikistan “Khovar”.

Event was held within the framework of the Passenger and Cargo Control Programme.

During the meeting, results of the implementation of the Passenger and Cargo Control Programme were reviewed, and further areas of cooperation were considered. Participants discussed issues related to strengthening cooperation in combating transnational organized crime, exchanging best practices in the implementation of the Programme, identifying strategic priorities and developing recommendations in the field of customs policy, as well as practical measures to enhance cooperation through national target analysis centers, improve information exchange and coordinate joint operations.

At a separate session organized by the World Customs Organization (WCO), the role of this organization in strengthening cooperation between the partners of the Passenger and Cargo Control Programme and the global customs community was discussed. In addition, participants considered opportunities for the wider use of the World Customs Organization’s tools and platforms for exchanging analytical information, coordinating operations, enhancing human resource capacity and participating in international law enforcement operations.

Meeting programme concluded with a visit to the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan. Participants familiarized themselves with the activities of the Central Customs Laboratory, the Customs Processing Centre and the National Target Analysis Centre. It was noted that this experience reflects Uzbekistan’s consistent efforts to modernize customs procedures and strengthen capacity in the area of risk management.
