WARSAW, May 9. /Dunyo IA/. On the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, a football tournament was organized among compatriots living in Poland, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event, timed to coincide with May 9 – the Day of Memory and Honor, was dedicated to immortalizing the memory of those who perished in World War II and strengthening the values of peace and unity.

During the opening ceremony, Embassy representatives informed the participants about Uzbekistan’s state policy aimed at providing comprehensive support for youth, ensuring quality education and actively involving young people in sports.

The compatriots were also provided with clarifications on consular and legal matters, as well as their rights and obligations, with particular emphasis placed on the importance of strict compliance with Polish legislation.

During the dialogue with the youth, special attention was paid to preserving national values, enhancing civic responsibility, fostering professional growth and achieving a respectable standing in society through diligent labour.

It was noted that participation in cultural, educational, and public initiatives contributes to strengthening cohesion among compatriots, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and shaping a positive image of Uzbekistan abroad.

It was emphasized that the tournament served as an important platform for consolidating the Uzbek diaspora in Poland, strengthening friendly ties among compatriots and developing direct interaction with the diplomatic mission.

The competitions were held in a spirit of healthy rivalry and included a group stage, followed by semi-final and final matches.

At the conclusion of the tournament, the winners and runners-up were awarded certificates of honor and commemorative gifts from the Embassy.

To conclude the event, guests were served dishes of Uzbek national cuisine and traditional sweets.
