TASHKENT, September 22. /Dunyo IA/. Uzbekistan has approved the national strategy “Development of Statistics – 2030”, aimed at comprehensively modernizing the national statistical system and improving the quality of official data in 2026–2030, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The goals and objectives of the document were discussed at a conference organized by the National Statistics Committee in Tashkent with the participation of representatives of government agencies, international organizations and sector experts.

The strategy was approved by a presidential decree dated September 10, 2026, and provides for improving data management, upgrading statistical infrastructure and expanding access to official statistics for users.

The document sets out 11 strategic goals, including strengthening institutional capacity, aligning with international standards, making more effective use of administrative and alternative data sources, introducing modern statistical methods and digital technologies, and developing human resources.

Particular attention is given to improving the quality of statistical information. To this end, the strategy calls for modernizing statistical production processes, bringing methodologies in line with international requirements and improving metadata.

Administrative, alternative and geospatial data, big data and modern digital technologies will be used more extensively in the production of statistics. By 2030, the number of statistical reporting forms is planned to be reduced from 47 to 38, while the number of administrative data sources regularly used in official statistics is expected to increase from 60 to 100.

The strategy also seeks to make statistical data more open, understandable and accessible to users. By 2030, user satisfaction with and trust in official statistics is targeted to reach at least 80%.

One of the key targets is Uzbekistan’s position in the World Bank’s Statistical Performance Indicators. By 2030, the country aims to rank among the 50 countries with the highest scores.

The strategy will be implemented in three stages. In 2026, the institutional and legal framework will be established; in 2027–2028, modern statistical methods and technologies will be widely introduced; and in 2029–2030, the focus will shift to consolidating the results achieved.
