TASHKENT, August 29. /Dunyo IA/. UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Sabine Machl, who took part in the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of our country’s independence, congratulated the people of Uzbekistan in an interview with Dunyo IA:
— Here, in the center of Tashkent, we can see how much attention is being paid to New Uzbekistan and how important education is, particularly the empowerment of women and young people. They are the key to the future. The United Nations is proud to support Uzbekistan in this process, as well as on other issues such as climate change, peace and security.
Over the past three years, I have been able to see how Uzbekistan is striving to create a vibrant economy and build a society based on responsibility, while continuing to develop relations and promote cooperation, as we have been doing with the United Nations.
The President of Uzbekistan mentioned seven initiatives within which cooperation with the United Nations can be pursued. This is very important for all of us. Uzbekistan is a very important member of the United Nations, and our agencies, the UN family, stand ready to help.
On behalf of the Organization, as well as on behalf of the democratic institutions that we truly value in Uzbekistan, I would like to congratulate everyone on the 35th anniversary of independence.
