TASHKENT, September 24. /Dunyo IA/.  Today, an international forum of analytical centers in the “Central Asia – Japan” format commenced its work at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event is co-organized by the Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia at the University of Tokyo and the International Institute for Central Asia.

Forum aims to formulate practical recommendations for the implementation of the Tokyo Declaration, develop cooperation between Japan and the states of Central Asia in priority areas and identify new opportunities for interaction within the framework of the “Central Asia plus Japan” dialogue.

Forum is attended by representatives of analytical centers, research institutes, government agencies and business communities, as well as scholars and experts from Japan, Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan.

Welcoming remarks at the opening of the forum were delivered by Sodyq Safoev, Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy; Shigeto Sonoda, Specially Appointed Professor at the Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia, the University of Tokyo and Former Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Japan Alisher Shaykhov.

In their speeches, the participants emphasized the importance of further strengthening expert and practical interaction between the countries of Central Asia and Japan, particularly taking into account the rapid development of digital technologies.

In particular, it was noted that the further development of cooperation requires not only the improvement of administrative mechanisms but also ensuring technical compatibility and the harmonization of relevant documentation and data between the responsible institutions.

Within the framework of the forum, thematic sessions will be held dedicated to transportation, digitalization and new technologies, as well as humanitarian cooperation, education and expert dialogue.

Discussions held are expected to contribute to the formulation of concrete proposals for the further development of multifaceted cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and Japan.
