OSAKA, April 13. /Dunyo IA/. The grand opening of World Expo 2025 took place today in the Japanese city of Osaka, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Among more than 150 participating countries, Uzbekistan’s pavilion drew special attention and was awarded the prestigious German Design Award gold prize in the category "Excellent Architecture – Fairs and Exhibitions".
Named "The Garden of Knowledge", the pavilion was designed by the German architectural bureau "Atelier Brückner". Covering approximately 750 square meters, the structure is built entirely from environmentally friendly and recyclable materials — wood, clay and brick — aligning with the principles of sustainable development.
The architectural concept is inspired by the traditional Uzbek amulet, the tumar, symbolizing harmony between cultural heritage and modernity. At the center of the pavilion stands a brick-and-clay structure representing the land, roots, and Uzbekistan’s rich history.
Rising above is an airy, 8-meter-high wooden framework symbolizing a forest — a space for communication, knowledge exchange, and cultural dialogue. Open on all sides, it creates intricate light patterns and ornaments reminiscent of traditional Uzbek decorative art.
A strong focus is placed on environmental responsibility: all materials used are recyclable and will be reintegrated into the biological or technical cycle after the exhibition. The wooden components, made from locally grown Japanese sugi cypress pine, are easy to dismantle and can be reused. Each beam carries a special tag allowing visitors to trace its origin using a smartphone.
Uzbekistan’s pavilion stands as a shining example of how tradition and innovation can coexist in harmony, showcasing the nation’s commitment to sustainability and cultural preservation on the global stage.
