SEATTLE, August 3. /Dunyo IA/. Around 60,000 people have been ordered to evacuate as wildfires threaten the city of Spokane in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Washington, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to “Reuters”, wildfires have already destroyed about 600 structures across the region, including homes and businesses.

State authorities said that more than 250,000 acres (101,171 hectares) are currently burning across the region.

The wildfire near Spokane, comprising three separate fire zones, is threatening areas under evacuation orders, Spokane Fire Chief Tom Williams told Reuters.

In addition to the National Guard, firefighters from more than a dozen states have been deployed to assist with the firefighting efforts.

Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Seattle is maintaining close contact with the Washington state government and is closely monitoring developments related to the wildfires.

According to the Consulate General, based on the information currently available, no citizens of Uzbekistan have been reported among those affected.

Consul General Akhror Burkhanov urged fellow citizens residing in the affected areas to exercise caution and strictly follow the instructions issued by local authorities and emergency services.
