Consul General of Uzbekistan discusses protection of compatriots’ rights in Kuzbass

KEMEROVO, August 8. /Dunyo IA/. Aslam Akbarov, Consul General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk, held a working meeting with Vasily Borisov, Commissioner for Human Rights of the Kemerovo Region–Kuzbass, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The sides discussed issues related to the current situation of Uzbek citizens residing in the Kemerovo Region.

The Russian side noted that violations of migration legislation by Uzbek citizens in the region, as well as cases of infringement of their legitimate rights and interests, have been effectively minimized.

Particular attention was also paid to establishing closer cooperation between the guardianship authorities of Uzbekistan and the Kemerovo Region–Kuzbass.

One of the central issues discussed at the meeting was the situation of Uzbek nationals being held at Pre-Trial Detention Center No. 1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service Directorate for the Kemerovo Region and awaiting trial in connection with a joint criminal case.

The Consul General emphasized the importance of ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of Uzbek citizens and expressed sincere appreciation to the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Kemerovo Region–Kuzbass for his active assistance in this matter and efforts to prevent any possible bias on the part of law enforcement authorities.

In turn, the Uzbek side was informed that, following a relevant written appeal, the matter had been placed under the special supervision of the Russian Commissioner for Human Rights.

The issue also remains under the personal supervision of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan.
