SEATTLE, September 29. /Dunyo IA/.  A volunteer community cleanup (Subbotnik — a traditional community clean-up and beautification activity in which people come together to clean, tidy and improve a public area) to beautify the grounds of Tashkent Park took place in Seattle with the participation of compatriots residing in this American city, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

“Tashkent” Park was established in 1974 as a practical embodiment of the sister-city relations established between the cities of Tashkent and Seattle. Year 2026 marks the 52^nd anniversary of the park’s founding.

For more than half a century, this site has served as one of the symbols of friendly relations between Uzbekistan and the United States, intercultural dialogue, as well as sister-city ties.

Within the framework of the event, an exchange of views took place with compatriots and American partners who have supported friendly ties with Uzbekistan for many years - on issues of further enriching the historical and symbolic significance of Tashkent Park.

In particular, proposals were put forward to install an additional information board on the park’s territory to provide more detailed insights into the history of sister-city relations between Tashkent and Seattle, to organize an exhibition of historical photographs and archival materials, as well as to prepare informational content regarding the creation of the park and the most significant events held on its grounds.

Such meetings contribute to strengthening ties with compatriots living abroad, supporting their initiatives and developing mutual understanding and cooperation between the public of Uzbekistan and the United States.
