New educational center "Ziyo Art" opens in New York

NEW YORK, February 14. /IA "Dunyo"/. Situated in the Brooklyn district of New York City, the center, operating under the diaspora organization "Mahalla USA", held its opening ceremony with the backing of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan. This initiative marks a significant step forward in the promotion of Uzbek culture and education abroad, aligning with the reforms championed in Uzbekistan and the declaration of 2024 as the Year of Support for Youth and Business.

Established on September 19, 2020, "Ziyo Art" aims to teach Uzbek language and literature to children of Uzbek descent in the United States, while also fostering the preservation and strengthening of national values. The center offers a diverse range of classes including Uzbek language and literature, etiquette, environmental studies, computer literacy, fine arts, religion, mathematics, and sports clubs in chess, sambo, and wrestling for children aged 6 to 15.
Classes are conducted throughout the week, with qualified teachers selected through a competitive process and utilizing educational materials from Uzbekistan. The new building boasts 10 rooms dedicated to training, covering a total area of 500 square meters, and currently accommodates 120-150 children on a monthly basis.
During the opening ceremony, held on February 9 to coincide with the birthday of the esteemed poet, thinker, and statesman Alisher Navoi, Abdumalik Akhmedov, President of the Mahalla USA organization, emphasized the center’s mission to instill feelings of love, respect, and loyalty to the Motherland among the younger generation. The overarching goal is to nurture patriotism, preserve national values, and provide quality education while creating ample opportunities for children.
The event was attended by representatives of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in New York, senators and congressmen from the city of New York, local authorities, the head of the Sambo Federation of Uzbekistan, leaders and activists of Uzbek diaspora societies from other states, local residents, and media representatives.
