• 151NEW DELHI, December 17. /Dunyo IA/. The Embassy of Uzbekistan in New Delhi facilitated a high-level meeting between a delegation from Karakalpakstan and the leadership of ERA University, one of India’s leading higher education institutions, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
High-level talks between a delegation from Karakalpakstan and the leadership of ERA University, facilitated by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in New Delhi, concluded in a constructive and businesslike atmosphere, marking a new phase in Uzbekistan–India cooperation in higher education and science.
A key outcome of the meeting was a statement by Mohsin Ali Khan, owner of ERA University, expressing a firm commitment to establish a branch of the university in Nukus, the capital of Karakalpakstan.
The Indian university’s leadership highlighted a strong interest in long-term collaboration, noting the region’s significant potential for the development of medical education and the training of highly qualified professionals.
Discussions included practical steps for implementing the proposed project. The ERA University delegation presented the educational, scientific, and infrastructural capabilities of the institution, while also requesting assistance in securing a land plot or suitable building for the new branch.
The meeting underscores Uzbekistan’s ongoing efforts to expand international academic partnerships and strengthen ties with globally recognized institutions in pursuit of sustainable regional development.
A high-level delegation from Karakalpakstan met with the leadership of ERA University, facilitated by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in New Delhi, in talks described as constructive and businesslike, signaling a new phase in Uzbekistan–India cooperation in higher education and science.
A major outcome of the meeting was the announcement by Mohsin Ali Khan, owner of ERA University, of his firm intention to open a branch of the university in Nukus, the capital of Karakalpakstan. The Indian university leadership expressed strong interest in long-term collaboration, highlighting the region’s potential for developing medical education and training highly skilled professionals.
During the discussions, the ERA University delegation presented the educational, scientific, and infrastructural capabilities of the institution, requesting assistance in securing a land plot or suitable facility for the branch. In turn, the Karakalpakstan delegation shared information on the region’s investment potential, priorities, and opportunities for hosting an international educational institution.
As a next step, both sides agreed to organize a working visit by ERA University leadership to Karakalpakstan in February 2026. The visit will include a detailed assessment of potential sites, discussions on legal, infrastructural, and academic matters, and the preparation of a preliminary investment plan.
The establishment of an ERA University branch in Nukus is considered a strategically important project for the entire Aral Sea region. Its implementation is expected to attract significant investment, strengthen international ties, and, crucially, expand opportunities for young people in Karakalpakstan and neighboring regions to access globally relevant education and professions in fields such as medicine, pharmaceuticals, information technology, and more.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continue working-level dialogue to ensure the timely realization of the planned initiatives, highlighting Uzbekistan’s active role in fostering international educational partnerships and regional development.
