Uzbekistan and Hungary launch cooperation on “Smart Village” pilot project in Syrdarya region

BUDAPEST, December 14. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Ulugbek Khusainov, Director of the Agency for Governance Efficiency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held talks with István GYÖRGY, State Secretary for Territorial Administration, Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development of Hungary, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

A central focus of the talks was joint work on a pilot “Smart Village” project in Uzbekistan’s Syrdarya region. The Hungarian side confirmed its readiness to support the initiative, drawing on Hungary’s experience in regional development and public service innovation. To ensure effective coordination, the parties agreed to establish a joint working group between the Agency for Management Effectiveness under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Hungary’s Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development.

Two sides reviewed the practical implementation of agreements reached during the visit of Tibor Navracsics, Minister of Public Administration and Regional Development of Hungary, to Uzbekistan in early December.

As part of the visit, the Uzbek delegation also toured the Government Service Centre in Budapest, where they were briefed on the organisation of public service delivery and the digital solutions used to streamline interactions between citizens and the state. Particular attention was paid to e-government tools that enhance accessibility, transparency and efficiency in public administration.

Overall, the visit contributed to strengthening bilateral contacts with Hungary, expanding opportunities for the exchange of best practices in public administration and regional development, and laying the groundwork for the implementation of joint innovative projects. These initiatives are expected to deliver tangible benefits both for Hungary’s regions and for the provinces of Uzbekistan, reinforcing the practical dimension of the growing partnership between the two countries.
