CAIRO, August 22. /Dunyo IA/.  Khokimiyat of Surkhandarya Region held online negotiations with representatives of the Egyptian company “Daltex”, which specializes in the cultivation and processing of agricultural products, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, participants discussed the launch of joint projects in the agricultural sector and cooperation within the framework of the 940-hectare “Surkhon-Agro” Free Economic Zone in the Sherabad District of the region.

Uzbek side presented the agricultural potential of Surkhandarya, including the possibilities of cultivating potatoes and grapes. Egyptian company was also offered land plots in 14 districts of the region.

Muhammad Mustafa, representative of “Daltex”, noted the promising prospects of cultivating potatoes and other crops in high demand in the local market. According to him, growing citrus fruits in open ground or greenhouses under the winter climate conditions of Surkhandarya may require significant costs.

Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to explore the possibility of establishing joint ventures for the cultivation and processing of agricultural products for subsequent export. It is also planned to exchange information on land plots.

At the next stage, a visit by the “Daltex” delegation to the Surkhandarya Region is expected to hold B2B negotiations with local entrepreneurs.
