ROME, May 22. /Dunyo IA/. A working group consisting of representatives from Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Economy and Finance, and other relevant departments of Uzbekistan studied Italy’s advanced practices in effective risk management and agricultural insurance, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the visit, the group met with Mauro Bellini, Director of the Department of Agricultural Risk Management Measures at the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, and other experts. They discussed the country’s government mechanisms for supporting agriculture, the regulatory framework, as well as the risk management plans and their implementation on the ground.

It was noted that Italian farmers face significant challenges due to global climate change. Due to adverse weather conditions and the emergence of various pests, their activities receive financial support based on a unified agricultural risk management plan.

In addition, Italy has established four funds to subsidize agricultural insurance, compensate for losses, manage risks related to market prices, and mitigate the effects of catastrophic events. Specialized information systems have also been implemented and integrated with various government agencies.

The working group also held meetings with representatives of the Italian Research Institute for Agricultural and Food Market Services, the Agricultural Payments Agency, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and local farming enterprises to learn more about the available risk insurance support mechanisms.

As a result of the meetings, agreements were reached for cooperation with Italy and FAO in effectively organizing risk management in agriculture, implementing best practices by involving foreign experts, and improving the qualifications of Uzbek specialists.
