Uzbekistan and Hungary tax authorities agree to expand cooperation

BUDAPEST, June 18 /Dunyo IA/. On the sidelines of the 30th Anniversary General Assembly of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA) in Budapest, representatives of Uzbekistan’s Tax Committee held a bilateral meeting with the leadership of Hungary’s National Tax and Customs Administration (NTCA), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The Hungarian side was represented by Acting President of the NTCA Csilla Tamás Czinege and Deputy President for Customs Affairs and International Cooperation Kristóf Péter Bakai.

The parties discussed prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation, as well as the expansion of collaboration within the framework of IOTA. The Hungarian side expressed support for Uzbekistan’s efforts to deepen its integration into the international tax community and reaffirmed its readiness to continue sharing experience in key areas of tax administration modernization.

Particular attention was paid to the digital transformation of tax authorities. Representatives of the NTCA presented Hungary’s practical experience in implementing the online invoicing system, the VAT return pre-filling mechanism (eÁFA), as well as the use of artificial intelligence technologies in risk analysis and enhancing the effectiveness of tax control.

The Uzbek delegation, in turn, informed its counterparts about the reforms being carried out in the country to further digitalize tax administration, improve risk management systems, and develop a modern taxpayer service model in line with international best practices.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to intensify expert-level cooperation on the digitalization of tax processes, organize thematic consultations between specialized experts from the two countries, and explore opportunities to expand the participation of Uzbek representatives in the educational programs of the OECD Multilateral Tax Centre in Budapest.
