Uzbekistan and Pakistan Identify New Areas for Investment Cooperation

ISLAMABAD, June 19. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev held talks with Asad ur Rehman Cheema, Major General of Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The parties reviewed the current state of trade, economic, and investment ties and explored opportunities for launching new joint projects in industry, agriculture, logistics, and infrastructure.
Particular attention was given to strengthening investment partnerships, expanding interregional cooperation, and establishing direct links between regions of Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
The Pakistani side highly praised the economic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, noting the country’s progress in improving the business climate and attracting foreign investment.
The sides also discussed cooperation in agriculture, including livestock breeding, veterinary services, and the potential import of live cattle from Pakistan to Uzbekistan.
In addition, proposals were considered to enhance transport and logistics cooperation, address transit-related challenges, and make more effective use of existing transport corridors.
Pakistan informed the Uzbek side about newly established industrial zones in Karachi and invited Uzbek investors to participate in promising projects located there.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue dialogue aimed at unlocking the investment potential of the two countries and expanding practical cooperation across key sectors.
