BAGHDAD, September 23. /Dunyo IA/. A series of meetings was held in the capital of Iraq between the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ayubkhon Yunusov and official figures of the country, during which the parties discussed matters of trade and transport logistics, consular interaction and the legal framework, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

At the negotiations with the Minister of Trade of Iraq, Mustafa Nazar Jumaah, the primary focus was directed toward increasing mutual trade and establishing direct contacts between entrepreneurs. Parties reviewed the harmonization of the draft agreement on preferential trade and the creation of trading houses of Uzbekistan in Baghdad and Erbil.

The sides also discussed the preparations for the first meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Committee on Economic and Trade Cooperation. In addition, the issue of Uzbekistan's participation with a national pavilion at the 50^th Baghdad International Fair, scheduled to be held on January 23–29^th, 2027, was considered.

At the meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, Muhammad Bahr Al-Uloom, parties discussed the exchange of high-level visits, the holding of the next round of political consultations and the expansion of consular cooperation.

In particular, it was proposed to consider the possibility of Uzbek citizens utilizing Iraq's electronic visa system, as well as to accelerate the resolution of consular matters between the competent authorities.

Separate negotiations were dedicated to draft agreements on the mutual promotion and protection of investments and international transport. Parties discussed the feasibility of utilizing the Port of Umm Qasr for Uzbek export-import cargo and the mutual recognition of documents required for foreign trade.

Following the meetings, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying direct contacts between the respective agencies and translating the reached agreements into practical projects.
