LONDON, September 22. /Dunyo IA/. Within the framework of the visit of the delegation of the Navoi State University of Mining and Technologies, led by Rector Bakhtiyor Mardonov, to the United Kingdom, negotiations were held aimed at developing international cooperation in the fields of education, science and innovation, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London, during the visit, meetings were conducted with UK Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Central Asia and Azerbaijan Lord John Alderdice; Professor at the University of Oxford Nick Hankins and Director of the university’s “Birsöz” initiative Leyla Najafzoda. A business event dedicated to the development of academic and commercial cooperation in the mining industry was also held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in London.

During the visit, the Uzbek delegation familiarized itself with the activities of the University of Oxford, modern educational methodologies, and its research and development infrastructure.

Following the negotiations, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the University of Oxford and the Navoi State University of Mining and Technologies. The document provides for the implementation of joint educational and scientific research projects, the introduction of innovative technologies into educational and industrial processes, as well as the development of academic exchanges.

Artificial intelligence, materials science, mechanical engineering, mechanics, and resource-saving innovative technologies were designated as priority areas of cooperation. Opportunities for sending students from the Navoi State University of Mining and Technologies for short-term study courses and internships at the University of Oxford are also being elaborated.
