WARSAW, June 24. /Dunyo IA/. Diplomatic officials from the Uzbek Embassy held a meeting with Piotr Iwo Chmielewski, President of “Rohlig SUUS Logistics”, a leading Polish logistics provider, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
He highlighted the results of the V Tashkent International Investment Forum, hosted in the Uzbek capital, underscoring that the high-profile event served as a clear testament to the comprehensive and irreversible economic transformations underway in the nation.
Piotr Chmielewski stated that after entering the Kazakh market a few years ago, his company is now establishing its own subsidiary in Uzbekistan. Consequently, Uzbekistan will mark the ninth country where the “Rohlig SUUS Logistics” group operates. He believes that the active inflow of foreign capital, the execution of infrastructure projects and the creation of a favourable business climate position Uzbekistan as a highly appealing destination for international investors.
The nation's population has already neared 39 million, while the median age of its residents stands at under 30. Annual economic growth exceeds 5 percent, reflecting the state's substantial demographic and economic potential. Additionally, the construction of the new Tashkent International Airport, the modernization of the rail network, and the advancement of the digital economy further elevate Uzbekistan's investment appeal.
According to the company's president, numerous Polish and European firms across pharmaceuticals, home appliances, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), textile industry, mechanical engineering and construction already export to Central Asia. Consequently, establishing a presence in Uzbekistan will provide a vital logistics hub for European enterprises looking to expand into the region.
In Uzbekistan, the company aims to scale up international road transport, domestic distribution, warehousing services, customs clearance, air, ocean and rail freight forwarding, alongside intermodal logistics solutions.
Speakers highlighted that the strategic value of transport corridors traversing Central Asia is on a steady rise. Specifically, China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan rail project and the Middle Corridor, which secures access to Europe across the Caspian Sea, are emerging as vital pillars of the Eurasian transit network. This corridor is projected to trim the cargo transit distance between Europe and Asia by around 900 kilometers, while slashing delivery times by 7 to 8 days.
Piotr Chmielewski also commended the potential of the “Islamabad–Tehran–Istanbul” transit corridor, which unlocks access to Türkiye and the Persian Gulf nations for Uzbekistan through Turkmenistan, alongside the “Termez–Kabul–Peshawar” rail project that paves the way to the Indian Ocean.
The corporate executive emphasized that Central Asia is playing an increasingly vital role in both air freight and passenger transport. He pointed out that the rollout of regular flights on the “Warsaw–Tashkent” route by “LOT Polish Airlines”, together with the introduction of new air connections, will further stimulate trade and economic linkages between Poland, Central Asian region and the Far East.
